We’re delighted to announce that The Down Cemetery has been awarded a BRAMM Silver Standard Award in the Cemetery of the Year Awards 2026!
The Cemetery of the Year Awards recognise cemeteries that demonstrate high standards in the facilities and services they provide to the bereaved, as well as innovation in memorials and community support.
The award recognises much more than the physical appearance of the cemetery. A significant part of the assessment focuses on how burial and interment services are managed and delivered. This includes administration, record keeping, procedures, compliance and, importantly, the standard of service and support provided to bereaved families.
This recognition reflects the care, commitment and high standards maintained at The Down Cemetery, and we’re delighted to see the hard work of our Cemetery Team recognised. Their commitment helps ensure it remains a peaceful, well-maintained place where families can remember and visit their loved ones.
We’d also like to thank the Friends of The Down for their valued contribution to the upkeep and maintenance of The Down Cemetery.
As this is our first year entering, achieving Silver Award at our first attempt is something we’re incredibly proud of. The assessment also gives us a valuable opportunity to identify areas where we can improve further. We’ll use the feedback to continue developing The Down Cemetery and the services we provide, with the ambition of going one step further and achieving Gold next year.
A huge congratulations and thank you to our fantastic Cemetery Team!
