Swing Into Summer: Free Tennis for Everyone at Trowbridge Park

May sees the start of a fantastic programme of tennis on the courts in Trowbridge Park. With the launch of the Barclays Free Park Tennis from the Lawn Tennis Association on Saturday 4th May 2024. Each week you can sign up to a session at the courts in Trowbridge Park no matter your age, background or ability – and play tennis for free.

If you don’t have a partner to play against that’s no problem. The Barclays Free Park Tennis gives you the chance to meet new people, enjoy free exercise with a full-body workout and practice your skills, all in just a one-hour session every weekend at 10:00am. Sign up online at Active Trowbridge – Trowbridge Park / Coaching (lta.org.uk)

The sessions are led by tennis activators, initially this will be from the team at Active Trowbridge but we welcome volunteer activators who may be interested in supporting the sessions to contact the team at Active Trowbridge for more information on how they can get involved. The team can be reached via email at info@activetrowbridge.co.uk

The 9th May also sees the return to Trowbridge Park, for the second year; our Coronation legacy project, The King’s Cup. 6 schools of Year 3 students will each enter 2 teams of 8 in a series of tennis matches. Last Year winners North Bradley C of E Primary School will be defending their trophy win. With the trophy presented to the winner school team by the Mayor.

Private tennis coaching will also be returning to the courts this summer for the first time in a year. The Frome based Marcelle Tennis Academy, led by Somerset LTA Coach of the Year Stephen Marcelle; and the Gloucestershire based, The Aceway Academy with Megan Butterworth both offering a wide variety of coach led sessions for adults and children across the week with a day and a session to suit all ages and abilities.

Further details for both coaching providers can be found online at Stephen Marcelle Coaching / Home (lta.org.uk) for The Marcelle Academy and Tennis Coaching by Megan Butterworth – The AceWay for The Aceway.
