Staverton water supply improvement update

We recently wrote to you about Wessex Water’s major investment of nearly £500,000 in the water supply within the B3105 (New Terrace) in Staverton, replacing the ageing water main with new plastic pipes.

Working in conjunction with Wiltshire Council and Wales and The West Utilities, the stretch of main from the railway bridge to inside Cereal Partners will be replaced, ensuring you have improved water quality and a more reliable source for years to come.

In addition within this closure, utility company Wales & West will also be carrying out some of their own work.

Following our recent successful drop-in session at which members of our team answer questions about the scheme from members of the public, we can confirm that work will start on Wednesday 26 July for approximately 21 weeks and is expected to finish by mid-December.

How will the work affect you?

Due to the nature of this project, a road closure to through traffic will be in place from the railway bridge to the bridge over the river Avon, for the duration of the project, to allow the work to be completed safely.

Diversions will be in place, including for heavy goods vehicles and these are marked on the map overleaf.

Access will be maintained for residents, but it may be delayed at times. Please speak to our on-site team with any specific access requirements. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and refuse collections.

There may be some noise while we carry out the work, but every effort made to keep this to a minimum and complete the work as quickly as possible.

You can continue to use your water supply and sewerage services as normal unless we tell you otherwise.

We know that some customers need extra help due to age, ill health, a disability, mental illness or additional needs. This may include easy access to water during a leak or outage, help reading your meter, or setting up a password for when we visit.
