‘Shining Star’ for 2023!

We are thrilled to announce that our ‘Shining Star’ for 2023, who will be joining us to switch on the Trowbridge Christmas lights, has been chosen! Thank you to every one of you who took the time to nominate a special person – we are very lucky to have so many wonderful people in our community.
Our Mayor, Councillor Stephen Cooper, took the time to read each and every nomination and we are pleased to announce that Amy Cottle will be joining us on Friday 17th November to ‘flip the switch’ on the town’s lights.
For those who are not yet familiar with Amy, let us fill you in!
Amy has just turned 18 years old, she has Williams Syndrome – a rare congenital disorder that occurs randomly and affects around one in 18,000 people in the UK. Amy doesn’t let this stop her from doing anything though and she is the Williams Syndrome UK Ambassador. She is a member of Jamma de Samba (and will be performing with the band as part of the Lantern Parade on switch on night!) She also does fundraising for The Williams Syndrome Foundation and local charity Stepping Stones in Trowbridge. Amy is also a young leader for a Rainbows group in Bradford on Avon.
We love to hear about inspirational people within our community and what an amazing role model Amy is! We can’t wait to have Amy with us to switch on our Christmas Lights! We hope you can join us for the Lantern Parade at 6.30pm (starting outside the Town Hall on Market Street) and the Switch On in Fore Street at approximately 6.45pm.
