Second Men’s Shed Launches In Trowbridge

A second Trowbridge Men’s Shed called Tom’s Shed will be opened by Trowbridge Mayor, Councillor Stephen Cooper! On Wednesday the 4th of October in the Church Hall at St. Thomas’ Trowbridge. The shed will be open from 0930–1230 every week, and it costs £2.50 per session to attend.

Kevin Wright, who is a UK Men’s Shed Ambassador and also part of the team at the Trowbridge Men’s Shed, explains. “Trowbridge Men’s Shed was established in 2016 as part of the development of the Men’s Shed Network at Andil House, a former mill building on Court Street. It is predominantly general carpentry and woodworking, but there’s now a waiting list to join, and woodworking may not suit everyone’s needs”.

Men’s sheds generally interest men who are retired or semi-retired, with an age range of 50 and upward. They provide a safe place designed to benefit men’s health and wellbeing by reducing isolation and loneliness and empowering them to help in their local communities. They are a place to share interests, build confidence to improve skills, make new friends, and learn from others.

Tom’s shed is a place where you can relax in an environment of old-fashioned mateship, and importantly, there’s no pressure. We want to hear your ideas and find out what you’re interested in, but you can also just come, have a yarn, and enjoy a cuppa if that’s all you’re looking for.”
