Maintaining Trowbridge Town
The neighbourhood team deliver ground maintenance across the town and take pride in their roles. They are responsible for ensuring the streets and areas of the town are clean and well-maintained. This is delivered by street cleaning, grass cutting, litter and fly-tipping as well as maintenance and planting. You would have seen the team around the town on many occasions especially if you are up early, the vehicles used are: Two Electric Melex’s ‘Sherlock Ohms and Dr Watts Son2; Tractor ‘Bertha’; Ride on Green machines ‘Yoshi’; The van ‘Van Solo’.
Grass Cutting
Our team cut grass between April and September. The number of times grass is cut in a particular area is based on a number of variable factors, including rainfall and temperature. This means the grass may grows quicker than expected but rest assured our team work hard to ensure grass is kept at a suitable height.
Hedgerows
Between March and September, hedgerows are protected by law. This means our team can only trim hedgerows if they are causing an obstruction or pose a danger to life, e.g., a hedgerow blocking the view of vehicles on a highway. All other hedgerow reports will be added to the schedule of work for October onward.
Trees
Our team is responsible for managing the safety of trees in our town. Our Tree Management Policy aims to balance the benefits that trees provide to our community, including enhancing biodiversity, climate mitigation, and visual amenity, alongside the need to ensure public safety and minimise damage to property. Service Schedule
This information shows our guideline maintenance schedule and the frequency of our service.
Grass cutting and immediate litter pick – 9 times a year.
Bin emptying – 104 times a year.
Hedgerows – 1 visit a year, weeding – as reported.
Tree inspections – 1 per year (Trowbridge Park).
Play areas – visual inspection 52 times a year, physical inspection – 12 times a year.
Third party inspection – 1 per year.
