Midsummer Festival – A Huge Success

Over 2,500 visitors turned up at the town park last weekend. The free festival was staged on Saturday 10th, and was organised by ourselves, Trowbridge Town Council, in partnership with the Trowbridge Town Hall Trust.

Over seven hours of entertainment were provided for people of all ages. It featured stilt walkers and several theatre groups, including Tit 4 Tat, Jelly Fish Theatre, and Calf 2 Cow with their production of The Wave, a sea adventure for all ages. Roving among the crowds were the Tall Tree Theatre Company, Trowbridge-based SASS Circus, and young musicians nurtured by Emma Rice and the Wise Children theatre company from Frome. Local choreographer Amy Foskett and her dance company performed their Burning House work within the grounds of the Sensory Garden behind the Town Hall.

In the evening, the live music kicked off with the Bristol-based Renewal Gospel Choir, followed by Bath-based street busker Steve Robinson and the Rosco Shakes blues and roll ‘n’ roll group. Trowbridge singer/songwriter Franki Soul wrapped up the evening finale with hits from Marvin Gaye and the Motown era.

More than 50 food and drink stalls organised by the town council offered a variety of dishes from around the world, including those from the Caribbean, Greece, India, Japan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Thailand including a Vegan Village.

We are so proud to work in conjunction with Trowbridge Town Hall to provide an event for the whole community. It was awesome to see our park so full in the heart of the town. We are looking forward to planning even more for next year.

We’ve received some wonderful feedback from residents:

“It was amazing—such a fantastic event! So diverse and so much to explore. It was evident by the attendance of so many local people that this is exactly what we all want and need more of in our town. Thanks to the organisers.” – Julia H

“Thank you to all who organised… looking forward to next year. It was good to have something like this in Trowbridge” – Sarah L
