Mayors' Charity Appeal

Each year the Mayor of Trowbridge picks a charity or charities to support throughout the term by raising valuable funds and awareness.

The Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor Stewart Palmen, has selected Storehouse Foodbank and Group Five as the chosen charities for the 2026–2027 mayoral year.

Storehouse Foodbank has supported the Trowbridge community since 2006, helping individuals and families facing hardship through practical and relational support. The charity provides emergency food parcels, community meals and support for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed. Each month, Storehouse Foodbank supports an average of 120 adults and 70 children, while its weekly Community Lunch welcomes around 30 people for a free home-cooked meal.

Group Five is a furniture charity that provides free furniture to families in need across Wiltshire who are unable to afford essential household items. Established in 1990 and named after the five West Wiltshire towns of Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury, the charity has helped furnish more than 18,000 homes. Families are referred to the charity by recognised organisations such as social workers, schools, housing associations and health professionals, with furniture then delivered free of charge by volunteer staff.

Fundraising activities will take place throughout the mayoral year, with the funds raised helping these local charities continue the vital work they carry out within the community.
