Wiltshire Council is preparing a new Local Plan and wants to hear your views.
The Local Plan is the document that guides where and how development should take place in Wiltshire and what infrastructure and services will be needed to support communities in the future.
The early-stage engagement consultation is the first formal stage in creating a new Local Planning document. It is not intended to look at any technical details of a Local Plan, but instead ask communities and stakeholders two simple questions:
- What should the Local Plan contain?
- How do you want to be engaged during the plan’s preparation?
Well-planned development can bring new opportunities, investment and facilities for communities, which is why local feedback is so important in helping make sure that growth is positive and the best it can be. Wiltshire Council will be holding engagement sessions around the county; you can speak to them in Trowbridge on Tuesday 15th September in The Shires from 10am to 3pm.
Wiltshire Council want to ensure that as many people as possible are engaged positively in the process, which is why we are sharing the opportunity to have your say to residents. We will also be holding our own public engagement session at the Civic Centre on Monday 7th September from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. This will give residents an opportunity to hear about the consultation, ask general questions and share their views, which can help inform and direct our formal response to Wiltshire Council’s Local Plan.

Please note: This is an early-stage consultation about what Wiltshire Council’s new Wiltshire Local Plan should contain and how communities should be involved as it is prepared. It is not yet a consultation on individual development sites or where future housing should be located.
