Exciting New Youth Centre Opens in Trowbridge

Trowbridge Future, a local charity, has recently launched a new youth centre in Trowbridge to cater to the needs of young people aged 8 to 18 years old in the community. The Mill Street youth centre, located in central Trowbridge, will provide a safe space for youngsters to enjoy a variety of activities and receive support from youth workers.

Previously, Trowbridge Future had run evening youth sessions from other locations in the town, but the limited space restricted the number of children who could participate. Now, with the opening of the Mill Street centre, more young people will have the opportunity to benefit from the activities and support provided by the charity.

The funding for the Mill Street youth centre comes from various sources, including The National Lottery Community Fund, the Future High Streets fund managed by Wiltshire Council, Selwood Housing, and local businesses and organizations. The charity was recently awarded a substantial grant from the National Lottery to support people through the cost of living crisis.

Meg Aubrey, the chief executive officer of Trowbridge Future, expressed gratitude for the financial support that made the youth centre possible. She also thanked the local businesses and individuals who fundraised and contributed to the project.

The opening of the Mill Street youth centre was attended by Trowbridge Mayor, Cllr Stephen Cooper, as well as local businesses and individuals who played a key role in its launch. The centre was officially opened by Florence Espeut-Nickless, a writer and actor who is the charity’s first patron.

Young people who are currently registered with Trowbridge Future will be able to attend the Mill Street sessions starting in April. For new inquiries and to learn more about the charity’s youth programs, interested individuals can email youth@trowbridgefuture.org.uk.

Trowbridge Future is currently recruiting a youth development leader to join the Mill Street team. For application details, please visit www.trowbridgefuture.org.uk.
