14 The Halve

Grade II* listed. The Trowbridge Street known as The Halve contains no fewer than 14 listed buildings, nearly all built in the late 18^th century. The most important is no. 14, the only one of the sets to be II* listed. The unusual street name recalls the common fields that existed until enclosure in the late 17^th century, when the fields were divided into strips, each of which was conventionally a half (or halve) acre.
