Christmas in Trowbridge

As the stars align and the season of cheer draws near, we extend our warmest welcome to a realm of enchantment and wonder. Let us usher in the spirit of the Yuletide with a host of merry engagements this December.

Behold the wonders of the Trowbridge Museum exhibition, a celebration of the season’s magic unfolding from the end of November to the New Year. Join us at our Christmas craft market on November 11th and indulge in the delights of our adult craft workshops, from wreath making to the felting of your own decorations and even a talk that explores the history of the big man in red! All details and booking can be found on the museum website.

Mark your calendar, for on Friday, November 17th, the festivities will crescendo with our Christmas lights switch-on and the legendary lantern parade. Commencing at 4 p.m. on Fore Street, indulge in delectable treats, captivating performances, and festive cheer.

The parade, led by the inimitable Jamma de Samba, will wind its way through town, adorned with hundreds of stunning willow lanterns. As we pause outside the Town Hall, the Mayor and our ‘Shining Star’ for Trowbridge shall illuminate the town with the flick of a switch, igniting the Christmas lights. The procession will continue through Castle Street and Fore Street, culminating in a stunning firework display at Trowbridge Park.

You can then explore the wonders of the Civic Centre’s Christmas Market, awash with an array of gifts, novelties, and seasonal delights. The market will be open throughout the evening and the following day, welcoming you to revel in the merriment of the season.

If you’re looking to celebrate the festive season with style, make your way to the Civic Centre for an unforgettable selection of events, from jazz and soul to the Pantomime, Cheesy Bingo, and Christmas Carols singalong. With so much to look forward to, now’s the time to pick up your tickets and get ready to make some wonderful memories.

Finally, the Santa Dash fun run shall return to Trowbridge Park, featuring interactive stations, a festive warm-up, and awards and certificates upon completion. It’s free to participate, but registration is essential, so sign up now and don your finest Christmas costume.

Join us for our free lantern-making workshop at the Information Centre, where you can craft your own beacon of light and participate in the parade. Workshops shall be held on October 22nd, and 28th and 29th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pre-booking is essential, so contact us at to reserve your spot.
