“I want to share my heartfelt sympathy with all those in the Trowbridge area who have family or other connections in Israel and Gaza at this time of terrible suffering.
Many in our community will feel personally affected by the conflict, and our thoughts are with them and their loved ones.
I also recognise that many of us have been shocked and saddened by the appalling acts of violence we have witnessed on our television screens.
It is against international law to direct attacks on civilian populations and to take hostages, both of which we have seen in recent weeks. I hope that the international community will act in whatever way it can to stop innocent people from being killed and injured, whether they are Israelis or Palestinians.
I urge Trowbridge residents to act towards each other with respect and compassion at this time”.
